SEMPERMAX’s signature program, Warrior 2 Warrior engages wounded warriors to visit other wounded warriors at their place of residence or care facility in an effort to reduce feelings of isolation and disenfranchisement from society. The program envelopes wounded service members and families back into a team environment where support, networks and advocacy can make positive forward change in their lives.
Warriors “Pay It Forward”
The program recognizes that helping andadvocating on behalf of others is another avenue of healing and recovery.Through Warriors “Pay It Forward” an intrinsic team connection is made throughout the community as warriors reach out to others within society at large or within their military network.Through this program wounded warriors are provided the tools and travel expenses to visit parents of their brother or sister service members killed in action, peers who may be silently dealing with multiple deployments and consequences of war or other individuals as the circumstances may warrant. In these types of interactions and visits, there is a circuit of healing that can occur for the warrior his/herself and those he or she is able to touch with empathy and understanding.
Meeting of the Minds
Group gatherings provide a heightened sense of shared impact – a reminder that no one is alone in the sequelae of traumatic injuries or events.Meeting of the Minds brings together wounded warriors, their families and families of KIA in an informal forum where socialization and sharing of experiences, best practices, limitations, hopes, dreams, etc. can lead to collective healing and positive relationships.
SEMPERMAX Support Team Coach
SEMPERMAX Support Team Coaches are identified through their experience with traumatic events, demonstrated outreach and desire to further assist others in similar circumstances.Through phone and electronic communication, primarily, the coaches provide support to others from the perspective of someone who has walked a mile in common shoes. For example, a Support Team Coach, who has experienced the loss of a child, can provide solace to, share positive coping techniques with, and guide another mother who has lost her son/daughter during this war to move past the grief and re-engage with friends, family and life.A Support Team Coach who is a caregiver of a TBI patient may provide a sounding board and/or learned systems or support avenues for another caregiver.
